Obama Administration to Present Asian Carp Control Options by 2013

As part of the Obama Administration’s commitment to protecting the Great Lakes from Asian carp and other invasive species, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that it will provide Congress and the public the opportunity to identify a potential permanent Asian carp solution in 2013, much earlier than expected.

Indiana Department of Natural Resources releases report on Asian carp movements in Wabash River Watershed

Over 180 aquatic non-indigenous species have been introduced into Great Lakes Basin waters to date, and new introductions are expected in the future. The so-called "Asian carps" are large threats to the Great Lakes given expected trajectories of nutrient flow disruption and food web alterations that will likely accompany their introduction to the Basin.
