After a week of intensive electrofishing and gill netting activities in Sandusky Bay, Maumee Bay and their main tributaries, officials have found no bighead or silver Asian carps in western Lake Erie.

Illinois Department of Natural Resources Brings Asian Carp to the Taste of Chicago

The Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee announced today that no Asian carp were found during a three-day intensive search for the invasive species in Lake Calumet within the Chicago Area Waterway System.

Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee to Begin Intensive Monitoring in Lake Calumet in Response to Environmental DNA Results
The Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee’s Monitoring and Rapid Response Work Group today announced intensive monitoring action will begin in Lake Calumet and surrounding areas on Tuesday, July 10th, after three consecutive rounds of environmental DNA sampling yielded positive results for Asian carp DNA.

Army Corps releases Great Lakes and Mississippi River Interbasin Study report on fishing
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released two reports today July 5, the “Treaty Rights and Subsistence Fishing in the U.S. Waters of the Great Lakes, Upper Mississippi River and Ohio River Basins” and “Pro-Fishing Tournaments in the Great Lakes, Upper Mississippi River and Ohio River Basins”.

Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee Monitoring and Rapid Response Update
This is the second set of 2012 environmental DNA samples that have been taken from Lake Calumet, part of the Chicago Area Waterway System. Both sample sets have returned positive hits for silver carp DNA. A third set of samples was also collected from Lake Calumet on June 25, 2012.

Asian Carp Regional Coordinating Committee Monitoring and Rapid Response Update
The first round of environmental DNA sampling in 2012 was collected on May 22nd. Samples were collected from Lake Calumet and Little Calumet River. The monitoring results included 17 positives for silver carp (14 from Lake Calumet, 3 from Little Calumet River). Zero positives for bighead carp were found.
